New York City Premiere of "The New Gold Standard"

What if medical research could be more predictive, more effective, and better for both people and animals?

The New Gold Standard takes audiences inside leading research institutions — including Harvard and Stanford — to explore a scientific shift already underway: the rise of human-based technologies many scientists believe are transforming how medicines are discovered, tested, and approved.

Featuring Senator Cory Booker, Senator Rand Paul, NIH's Dr. Nicole Kleinstreuer, and researchers and industry leaders from some of the world's most advanced labs, the film examines the scientific, regulatory, and ethical questions shaping the future of biomedical research — at a moment when policymakers and scientists alike are rethinking how new medicines get made.

Each year, more than 42,000 dogs, 106,000 monkeys, and an estimated 100 million mice and rats are used in U.S. research labs. Most Americans don't know the scale. This film asks what could change if we did.
